Eight Crazy Nights

Being with family is very important to me this time of year, and if I can't be with my mine, I'll just make one. Even if it means bribing people with food. After all, what is family about anyway if not bribery by food?

Pictures from this weekend...

Bowl of termites. Still alive.

"I'll give you 5 pula if you eat one still alive"

"Robin, stand by the pool. I'll take your picture"

Beautiful sunset # 5 568 685 680

My friends are awesome. Megan knows how to lasso stuff.

Then came Hanukkah preparation. I think there's nothing more fun than spending an entire afternoon cooking. Even if we don't have a cheese grater.

Peeling potatoes:

Fortunately, I was able to enlist some slave labor.

I had enough to make 2 batches of potato latkes and 1 batch of sweet potato latkes and 1 bunch of jelly donuts and some applesauce, but after 1 batch of latkes it started to rain. I had searched for Manischewitz wine, but I couldn't find any, so I had to settle for a box of the second best. Everything that was not cooked, and the wine, will be eaten tonight.

How does one light candles in the rain? One doesn't. One moves the party to the boys' bathroom.

Meet Leah, my Hanukkiah

And then we huddled in the boys' bathroom.

The party only got better when Katie returned from her ISP journey.

My friends are wonderful. I can't wait until tonight.
